Fr Jean Vianney became known as the Cure d'Ars because of his work as parish priest at Ars-sur-Formans in France. He led an austere life and was believed to have the gift of reading souls and curing the sick. He was also known for his common sense and deep insight. After a long illness he died in the village on 4th August 1859 and in 1925 was canonised Saint Jean Marie Baptiste Vianney. In 1929 he was declared patron of parish priests.
This lovely statue is made in France by Atelier d'Art, the Sisters of Bethleem, from resin and stone.
